Happy Birthday to me. Happy Birthday to me…For those of you that don’t know, last week, I celebrated my 7th anniversary of my 25th birthday. That means that I am 32. And like most 21 year olds, I still engage in the practice of celebrating my birthday for the rest of the month. That means that I am still accepting gifts (preferably cash and money orders). Just kidding. But seriously, as I celebrate another year of life, I am forced to, once again, examine the lessons that I have learned over the past 365 days. Therefore, I have listed The Top 10 Things That I Learned Over the Past Year. Enjoy.

10. Everyone wants to be associated with progress.
I have not met a person yet that does not desire progress. However progress is defined for you, I understand that many of us are in search of it. The struggle comes because many of us don’t know what we’re progressing towards and therefore, can’t measure or recognize it.

9. Oftentimes to move forward, we must first move away.
It’s now been a year since I moved from Houston to Dallas. Personally, it was probably one of the toughest things that I had to encounter last year. But spiritually, it was the best thing that happened to me because it removed me from the confines of my comfort zone.

8. Life begins with the acceptance and understanding of truth.

7. Many people operate under the belief of loving things and using people. But to truly achieve excellence, we must love people and use things.
By understanding this concept, my relationships took on new meaning.

6. Life is a series of relationships, all mirroring the model set by our vertical relationship with God.
Your natural relationships is often an illustration of your spiritual relationship. Stay tuned for more on this.

5. The pain of love lost is temporarily great, but the total absence of love initiates death.
I can’t imagine not knowing how to love or how to receive love. I can’t believe I didn’t learn this one earlier. But I am glad that I learned it.

4. Being called weird is a great compliment because it indicates that my actions and thoughts are not like everyone else’s, which is the beginning of achieving excellence, success, and happiness.
Thank you to those that thought I was weird.

3. Most of our issues simply begin with what we believe. Change your belief systems and you will change your life.
To learn more about belief systems, listen to my radio show episode, “Breaking Out of Your Box – Part 2”

2. When pursuing your purpose, the fear of inaction is greater than the fear of failure.
With purpose comes greater accountability. Now, I have no choice in the matter. But what’s great is that I enjoy doing the things that I was created for.

1. No matter what the sacrifice…the blessing is always greater!

Let me know what you think.
