More About Chris

Christopher King was born in Houston, Texas. Raised in a single parent household, Mr. King overcame many financial woes and hardships--including a brief period of homelessness--by finding encouragement through academic and athletic success. It was this success that allowed him to graduate at the top of his high school class and then go on to play basketball at Drake University, in Des Moines, Iowa.

During his college years, a series of poor choices, coupled with the unfortunate death of his mother, caused Mr. King to experience near-fatal bouts of depression and be dismissed from his university's basketball team. Not allowing his circumstances to get the best of him, Christopher King continued to persevere and graduate from Drake University as the 4th African-American computer science graduate in the school's history. The first was his older brother.

It was at Drake University where Mr. King began his love for speaking to various audiences, giving his first speech, on the topic of diversity, to address racial tensions on campus. While at Drake, Christopher King also facilitated several workshops and participated in research on various intrinsic motivation techniques of students. It was this research and training that spawned the creation of his Egami™ series of workshops on image empowerment, targeted to students and adults across the country.

Currently Christopher King markets himself as an educator and a messenger, providing messages of empowerment and change.

“Many of us are unable to experience the happiness and success that we were intended to have because we have a distorted image of ourselves and who we were meant to be. I like to call this the condition of Egami™. It is my aim to ensure that everyone not only understands this condition, but understands how to overcome it.”

Mr. King’s Egami™ series of workshops and discussions have become widely requested among colleges and organizations across the nation, as they are interactive, energetic, and enlightening.

“Mr. King is definitely the most dynamic inspirational speaker that I have ever heard.” – Keisha McGee, student at Remington College
